Injectables have revolutionized our fight against time by slowing the normal aging process without the need for surgery. By gently relaxing muscles, restoring lost volume or filling lines, we can now slow down – even reverse – the signs of gravity and age. Injections skills are an art and our skilled doctor and aesthetic practitioners will create a plan of nonsurgical treatments to keep you looking your best, year after year.
Doctors have been using Botox® for years to successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases including moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet.
Botox® injections are very small and done with a tiny needle that usually does not cause discomfort. There is often a pressure sensation and small bump immediately following the injection. This is a result of the small volume of Botox® that is injected. This goes away very quickly (minutes) and patients can return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
When will I notice the difference and how long will it last?
Botox® treatment takes three to eight days to take full effect which sometimes can be hastened by contracting the facial muscles. The results usually last from 3 to 5 months. The effects of Botox® Cosmetic are confined to the treatment sites.
What happens as treatment begins to wear off?
As the Botox® treatment wears off, the wrinkles will begin to reappear but frequently they may not be as deep or noticeable. It requires three to four Botox injections to maintain the smooth, youthful appearance year round. With repeated treatments, the effects tend to last longer thus requiring fewer injections.
Is there any downtime?
No. Most people return to work or normal activities immediately following treatment. It is recommended however, that you avoid exercise, heavy lifting and massaging the injected area for a few days afterwards.
What about BOTOX® for migraine help?
Botox® has been found to give relief to Migraine sufferers. However, therapeutic Botox is administered at much higher doses and administered by neurologists or other specialists. Sunset Medspa does not provide therapeutic Botox® treatments.
Botox® injections interrupt the signal from the nerve to the sweat gland to reduce the sweating in the area that is affected. The injection is done with a very fine needle for the underarms with substantial decrease in amount of sweating in the area that was treated.
Dysport is a prescription injection for temporary improvement in the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults less than 65 years of age.
Frown line causes and treatment
You work out, eat right and take care of your skin. Of course, cosmetic creams and lotions will always have their place in your regimen—but for moderate to severe frown lines, you may want prescription treatment.
The cause of frown lines
Frown lines are caused by a number of factors. Over time, repeated movement of the facial skin by the brow muscles forms lines between the eyebrows. Frown lines are “dynamic”—they happen because of the way a person’s face moves.
Frown lines and aging
Contrary to popular belief, frown lines are not always caused by age. Age is a factor, but repeated facial movements, such as frowning or squinting, can also create frown lines, which means they may develop even in younger adults.
How Dysport® can help
Prescription Dysport temporarily improves the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions. So now your eyes will tell your story, instead of revealing the lines between them.
Fight the Aging Process
As we get older, our skin tends to lose youthful volume. Wrinkles and folds deepen and become more prominent. Juvederm can help minimize these changes and help restore skin volume and tone.
Juvederm is a simple injection and requires a minimal amount of time and minimal associated discomfort. Results are immediate. Your skin will gain volume and wrinkles will be minimized. Recovery time (downtime) is minimal. Most clients receive an injection under 30 minutes and leave with noticeable results and a new look that is fresh, yet subtle.
Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid and is a smooth gel. It occurs naturally in the skin to help add volume and hydration. This means Juvederm is bio-compatible and simply enhances your own body’s naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid. Due to a unique molecular bonding process, Juvederm will remain in the treatment area for six to nine months.
Juvederm is an excellent complementary treatment to laser hair removal, nonsurgical facelift and microdermabrasion as well as other simple non-invasive treatments. Since Juvederm is essentially composed of a naturally occurring substance, hyaluronic acid, it will not complicate the healing process of other treatments nor will it cause undue discomfort or pain.
Every Juvederm injection is administered by our trained nurse practitioner after a complimentary consultation. A topical anesthetic is usually applied immediately prior to the injection. Pain is usually minimal, and most clients experience a minor pinch with the injection. Juvederm Ultra XC, which contains lidocaine, is available and used in most cases to minimize discomfort. No general anesthetic is needed or used.
Everyone Notices, No One Knows
Juvederm adds to existing hyaluronic acid which results in the appearance of softer, more youthful skin without the telltale stretched look associated with a surgical facelift.
Look and Feel
Juvederm treatments use a smooth consistency gel that, in addition to adding a lustrous youthful appearance to skin, also has the tactile sensation of young skin, soft and malleable – but also consistent and strong. No lumpiness or scarring is possible since the hyaluronic acid compound is a naturally occurring one in the body and will be metabolized over time (albeit very slowly.)
Since Juvederm is a biocompatible product consisting of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, there is little risk of an allergic reaction. This makes Juvederm a perfect combination with other skin treatment options such as microdermabrasion, Botox®, and laser hair removal.
Treatment You Can Trust
Juvederm was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is safe in patients of all skin types and color. The advanced proprietary manufacturing process results in a smooth malleable gel that flows easily into the skin creating a natural look and feel.
Authentic Product, Authentic Results
All Juvederm administered at Sunset MedSpa is purchased directly from Allergan and administered by a licensed nurse practitioner.
What is Restylane?
Restylane, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Silk, Perlane®, and Perlane-L® are all members of the Restylane family of products. Each is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to instantly, visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds or add fullness to your lips.
See lasting results for up to 18 months with full correction
At least 95% of patients saw results for up to 18 months when they followed the Restylane Regimen.
In a clinical study treating the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (laugh lines), Restylane maintained improvement for up to 18 months after initial treatment, when each line received a follow-up treatment at 4.5 or nine months.
What is the Restylane Regimen?
The Restylane Regimen is a scheduled treatment plan that involves initial treatment of moderate to severe laugh lines, plus a follow-up treatment approximately 4.5 or nine months later. On average, only half the amount of Restylane injectable gel used at the initial treatment is needed at the follow-up treatment to achieve full correction—meaning just the right amount of a Restylane family product in the appropriate treatment areas of your face.
Note: The Restylane Regimen does not apply to Restylane or Restylane-L® for lip enhancement for patients over 21. But, you can get the look you want—and keep it longer—when it comes to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, when you achieve full correction.
